Can I get certified during my retreat?
Yes. You can complete your PADI Open Water Diver course while in Placencia, including e‑learning, confined‑water skills, and open‑water dives.
Do I need to complete e‑learning before arrival?
Yes. You would need to download the e-learning modules before your arrival.
Can I rent dive gear?
You must bring your own mask, snorkel, and fins. BCD and regulator rentals are available for a weekly rate. For night dives, you must bring your own dive light. A 3mm wetsuit is recommended; limited rentals are available.
Is the water beginner‑friendly?
Absolutely. Belize’s warm, calm, high‑visibility waters are ideal for new divers.
Can kids get certified?
Yes, junior certifications start at age 10.
What if I’m nervous about diving?
Our instructors specialize in working with beginners. We move at your pace and ensure you feel safe and confident before progressing.If you are not already a certified diver, but are curious about whether you would enjoy diving, you can take the Discover Scuba Course, which provides a true scuba experience under very close supervision.
Travel Logistics
How do I get to Placencia?
You fly into Belize City National Airport (BZE), and then fly to Placencia (PLI) with one of the two local airlines: Maya Air or Tropic Air.
Do you offer airport transfers from BZE?
Yes. We can arrange ground transfers from Belize City (BZE) to Placencia (PLJ) with 48 hours’ notice. The drive is ~3 hours and costs approx. $350 USD per person.
Can I fly instead of drive?
Yes. A 30–40 minute hopper flight (BZE → PLJ) is the fastest option. Taxis from the Placencia airstrip to the village cost around $10 USD.
How do I get to the boat launch point in Placencia for the eco-island boat transfer?
The boat departs from the MnM Gas Station dock on the lagoon side of Placencia Village. Walk past the gas pumps to the dock for check‑in.
What time do we return on Friday?
Early afternoon. Your last dive is Friday morning. Follow your agency’s NO‑FLY guidelines before flying home. Many guests stay in Placencia until Saturday.
Where should I stay on weekends?
Placencia Village offers hostels, guesthouses, boutique hotels, and beach resorts. We can recommend options and assist with bookings.
What can I do on weekends?
Placencia is a perfect base for:

- Waterfalls
- Cave tubing
- Monkey River tours
- Snorkeling or fishing trips
- Sunset cruises
- Beaches, restaurants, and nightlife
